The purpose of this project is to engage students in learning about the European influence on Canada through a variety of digital tools. The use of technology provides learners with new opportunities to build knowledge in a different manner than traditional means.
Project Goal
- To analyse the dynamic relationships of people with land, environments, events, and ideas as they have affected the past, shape the present, and influence the future.
Learning Outcome
DR 5.3 - Identify the European influence on Canadian society
Indicators
Plot the principal voyages and experiences of the first European explorers who came to what is now Canada (e.g. Cabot, Cartier, Champlain, Hudson, Kelsey, Fraser, Hearn).
Show how trade influenced the establishment of the first communities in Canada.
Explore the relationship between the British, First Nations, and the French in what is now Canada.
Undertake an inquiry to determine how the fur trade affected the people of Canada.
